Michael Kiske remembers his roots
Date: Thursday, October 19 2006
According to Michael Kiske's official website, Michi is planning a surprise both to Helloween fans and his own followers. Recently he discussed an idea of re-recording his old Helloween songs with his new label, Frontiers Records. Most probably, 11 old tracks will be re-recorded as completely acoustic versions of his old pumpkin hits, plus one wholly new songs as a bonustrack.
Also, there will be a new guest appearance by Michi - his duet with Indigo Dying band's female vocalist, in a song called Breathe In Water. And, concerning his own material he's composing at present, Kiske tells that it turns out to sound along the lines of famous Longing and Do I Remember A Life? songs.
Masterplan loses Uli Kusch
Date: Thursday, October 5 2006
As Uli Kusch said to www.darkside.ru webzine in person, during an exclusive interview, he's no longer a part of Masterplan. Presently he prefers not to discuss any details of what happened. He mentions the democratic principles of making decisions in the band as one of the reasons of his leaving - according to him, it often led to the impossibility to make everybody agree about certain things.

1. Light The Universe (feat. Candice Night)
2. If I Could Fly (Live in Sao Paulo 2006)
3. Revolution (unreleased in Europe)

Night and day at Veldenstein castle
Date: Tuesday, August 22 2006
Looks like Helloween haven't forgotten their promise to do one more single, Light The Universe. After just a short rest from the festival heat of this summer, they gathered at Veldenstein castle (South Germany) to shoot the video for the title song. Candice Night came there, too - so, now not only her voice, but also her beauty becomes a part of Light The Universe video.
The single is planned to come out in the early November. It will be accompanied by a powerfil promo-campaign over radio and TV. Together with title song's audio and video tracks, it will include a new live version of If I Could Fly classic, and one more bonustrack, yet unnamed but said to be interesting.
DK Gorbunova is closed for repairs... so where will Helloween go?
Date: Friday, August 18 2006
The previously planned venue for Helloween's show in Moscow, DK Gorbunova, is now closed for repair works. And they won't be over by October. Therefore, according to our sources, the concert will be moved to "Tochka" club, a smaller but really good venue. We're expecting a great gig in any case!

No more silence from Michael Kiske's camp!
Date: Tuesday, March 28 2006
After the participation in successful Place Vendome project, Michael is on the march again. According to Frontiers Records, Michi's new label, the new solo album of this brilliant singer is to be released on May 19th. The recording was done in February with the help of Kiske's good old friends: drummer Karsten Nagel (Michi's pal since school and Ill Prophecy days), guitarist Sandro Giampietro (Supared) and bassist Fontaine Burnett. The album will be named simply KISKE, the track-list will be as follows:
Fed By Stones, All-Solutions, Knew I Would, Kings Fall, Hearts Are Free, The King Of It All, Sing My Song, Silently Craving, Truly, Painted, Sad As The World.
Michael is quite confident that he "was able to write and produce a record that could either be a nice ending or beginning for a new career".
Frontiers have put four song samples from the upcoming disc on their site - Fed By Stones, All-Solutions, Knew I Would, Painted.
Together with the new solo album's release Frontiers will re-release Kiske's first solo work, Instant Clarity. The new edition of Michi's solo debut will include all the previously published songs, including even the Japanese bonus track A Song Is Just A Moment, as well as three newly-recorded songs which were never released before - I Don't Deserve Love, Sacred Grounds, Can't Tell.
Uli Kusch makes a comeback to his old, really old band
Date: Thursday, March 23 2006
As blabbermouth.net reports, Uli Kusch, an ex-pumpkin and presently the drummer of Masterplan will participate in the recording of the new album of Mekong Delta thrash band. This isn't the first time Uli joins these guys, though far back in 1988 he used to play with them under a different name, as "Patrick Duval". Presently Peter Haas, the old drummer of Mekong Delta, has no time for the band, so Uli takes his place. Together with Ralf Hubert (the band's leader) and guitarist Peter Sjöberg they're ready to record, the only thing that's left to do is to find an appropriate vocalist for their new material...
One third of the upcoming live album has just been recorded!
Date: Monday, January 30 2006
Most probably, the 5000 Bulgarian fans in Sofia didn't expect that by going to see Helloween's show on Janurary 29th they would gain some historical status! Nevertheless, they did! It appears that Helloween has planned to record shows in Sofia, Tokio and Sao Paulo for their live album that will come out as a DVD/CD package. And Sofia's concert is already on tapes. We're waiting impatiently for the album, and even more - to see Helloween face to face in Russia before that...
Koska Zafiriou gets some things clear
Date: Tuesday, January 24 2006
Helloween's tour manager, Kosta Zafiriou, has reacted to certain comments of the BLABBERMOUTH.NET's visitors concerning the band:
"It seems to me some people in here get off on writing just negative things, no matter if true or not.
The tour is going very good so far considering both, ticket sales and reactions of the audience. Helloween played two shows in Krakow and Warsaw late November last year: Both clubs were packed and the Polish fans got wild and had a great time. It is true we cancelled the show in Poznan, but it always takes two to promote a concert successfully... Alone the European leg of this tour includes more than 50 shows, followed by Southeast Asia, South America and North America. We can't complain at all about a lack of success so far, I just want to give you a couple numbers of ticket sales: Zlin & Pardubice (both Czech Republic) 3500 each, Helsinki 1600, Stockholm 1800, Gothenburg 2000, Madrid 2200, Barcelona 1600, Karlsruhe, Germany 1500… and so on. At the moment [as] I am writing this we are in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and the guys rock their two-hour show in a sold-out club."
Also, Kosta said about the impossibility of Michael Kiske re-joining the band, no matter how certain fans may desire it. Read the whole of his statement at BLABBERMOUTH'S WEBSITE.
Michael Kiske, his new solo album and his faithful fans
Date: Friday, December 23 2005
Michael Kiske has just recently got a fan-club. It's home is at WWW.MICHAELKISKE.NET and it has already done an INTERVIEW with Michi. He says that his solo record is going to come out in Spring 2006. The track-list is likely to beFed By Stones, Hearts Are Free, The King Of It All, Knew I Would, Silently Craving, King's Fall, Sing My Song, Painted, I Don't Deserve Love, Sad As The World, All-Solutions and a bonus track for Japan (track order will most probably be different).
The other musicians playing in the project will be Karsten Nagel (ex-Ill Prophecy, drums, Michi's old bandmate from school days), Fontaine (a black bass-guitarist from USA) and most probably some guitars by Sandro Giampietro (ex-Supared). The working name of the album is simply KISKE. Moreover, as Michael told his fans, there's going to be a new Place Vendome CD very soon, then maybe a project together with Timo Tolkki and a re-release of Instant Clarity with three bonus tracks.
Keeper comes (a)live again!
Date: Wednesday, December 7 2005
"...The audience in the Helsinki venue was rather well heated-up but quite polite (there were about 2.500 metalheads on that snowy evening) But if the Helsinki show was great enough, then Tampere gig a couple of days later was just perfect. Pakkahoune hall is a bit smaller (the capacity is about 1.500 with 1.000 metalheads at the gig), more compact and has better sound conditions than Helsinki venue. The communication between the band and the audience was closer and hotter. While Helsinki metropolitans warmed up to the second and third songs of the set, the people at Pakkahoune went ape from the very first chords. And perhaps the band have done their best performance within this tour there..." - Just a few days ago helloween.ru's journalist traveled to Finland to a couple of Helloween shows of the ongoing Legacy tour. Read his DETAILED REPORT about what he's seen and heard and see photos from HELSINKI and TAMPERE!
About Keeper again. But not only about him...
Date: Thursday, November 3 2005
Russian webzine Dark Side has recently published a nice interview with Andi Deris. The frontman of Helloween tells about many things, mostly about the creation of the new record, songwriting, the Keeper idea, the meaning of the songs: "Occasion Avenue is about reincarnation. Occasion Avenue is just a synonym for life, it’s a kind of street with millions of millions of little or bigger occasions. If you leave the avenue, you may get lost. Sometimes you find your way back to the avenue, but sometimes you don’t and that means that you didn’t fulfill your life and have to begin another life, so you go back to the start on Occasion Avenue. And then you go again, and again, and again. That’s why we had the idea of that little intro – going back to the past times, to Keeper 1 and Keeper 2, reminds the people of what went on there. Life is always a repetition, there’s always a second chance and a third chance, but if you do it wrong again and again, you will definitely find yourself back where you once started. That’s how it goes in life, that’s how it goes in music and in every sphere that concerns you, you could probably find this order". You can read the full interview in English in the Dark Side Ezine. VERY INTERESTING AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Michi signed a contract with Frontiers Records
Date: Friday, October 28 2005
The deal is over two records and is an excellent option after the successful cooperation and experience with the label during the Place Vendome project. So, Kiske will start producing his new solo-album already in the beginning of November so that an early 2006 release can be expected.
Kai Hansen is sceptical about The Legacy
Date: Friday, October 21 2005
To many fans of both "old" and "new" Helloween it might be interesting - what Kai Hansen, the great pumpkin founder, thinks about the idea of "Keeper of the Seven Keys - The Legacy". So, naturally, he's been asked that in an interview he gave to BW&BK... What he says is essentially this: he wishes Helloween all the luck, but he would never dare to undertake something like this himself, not without Michael Kiske's voice in any case. He says, it's too easy to disappoint fans. Read his exact words here.
Who Is Mr. Keeper?
Date: Sunday, October 9 2005
The first time we heard here in Russia about the idea of another Keeper album was from Michael Weikath, the guitarist of Helloween, from his interview for our website in June of 2004. Since then, it has been a year and a half of waiting, of many expectations, arguments and various kinds of guesswork. As of me, I've had no expectations at all to be honest. I've had no idea concerning the forthcoming album. Moreover, I've had no idea what is it - I mean the "keeper thing" in general. Original Keepers have never been conceptual albums in the strict and modern sense of this word with well-defined story (like, for example, Rhapsody's "Emerald Sword Saga" etc). It's rather a kinda symbolistical conceptualism in the 70's way (like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, for example). And it's really difficult to measure such a philosophical, psychological and sensational subject by calculating the keys, "keeperish" guitar riffs, twin solos, Slavonic and Wagnerian melodies et cetera. It's like trying to understand the meaning of Mona Lisa's smile by measuring the painting with a ruler. I supposed that the new album could help me to understand - "Who is Mr. Keeper?". Surely, if it were called "Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part III". And if the Keeper creature opened its face, he-he! If ifs and ans were pots and pans... - read our website's review of the new Helloween album here.
Another single for Christmas?
Date: Wednesday, October 5 2005
According to the news in German mass media and the Internet sources the second "The Legacy" single, "Light The Universe", is to be released closer to Christmas.
The Legacy tour and album update
Date: Sunday, September 18 2005
Andi Deris and Michael Weikath have just had a very intense promo tour all over Europe. They've been to France, Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Spain and had dozens of listening sessions, autograph sessions, interviews, etc. Some of the pictures and interviews from the promo tour can be seen here, here, and here.
Happy Happy Japanese
Date: Thursday, September 8 2005
According to the information from official Helloween messageboard the Japanese edition of Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy will also include bonus-track Revolition. Be careful: this is not another The Beatles cover, it's a new song written by Markus "the King of b-sides" Grosskopf. Solo in this song was played by Sascha.
Release dates were specified
Date: Thursday, September 1 2005
The brand new album of HELLOWEEN "Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy" is to be released October 28th, 2005 (Germany), October 31st, 2005 (Europe), November 8th, 2005 (USA).
The Legacy - "there’s not a single weak number"!
Date: Friday, August 26 2005
Keeper Of The Seven Keys – The Legacy is more than simply another Helloween album, it's also the band's strongest release in over ten years. And we would rather agree with the band's recent press statement and the band's guitarist Michael Weikath:
"Had we not been convinced that our new recording lives up to the high standards set by Keeper I and II - we certainly wouldn't have called it Keeper Of The Seven Keys – The Legacy, - Michael Weikath points out. - I feel that the current songs have no problem keeping up with the old classics. And what is more: Keeper I and II featured the odd track that the fans weren't particularly into, but as far as I'm concerned there's not a single weak number on Keeper Of The Seven Keys – The Legacy."
There are 13 tracks. The musicians impress with epic compositions, such as "The King For A 1000 Years" (13:54 min.) and "Occasion Avenue" (11:05 min.), as much as they do with shorter, more compact songs (the up-tempo "Pleasure Drone", "Silent Rain" with its traditional riffing, "Do You Know What You're Fighting For", driven by haunting guitars, the catchy "Come Alive" or the huge ballad "Light The Universe". In this first-ever duet in Helloween's history frontman Andi Deris is singing together with none other than Ritchie Blackmore’s companion, Blackmore's Night lead singer Candice Night). All in all, the double album plays for over 77 minutes that will probably seem too short for an enthralled listener, come October 31st, the album's release date.

What happens in the camp of Kai Hansen and the Rays meanwhile...
Date: Wednesday, July 27 2005
Just as the pumpkin camp still experiences a calm before the stotm (that is the release of the new album), Kai Hansen, their former colleague, keeps showing up on public every once in a while. He played a gig with his protegèes, Stormwarrior at Earthshaker Festival, which was a big success. Also, Gamma Ray performed at Tuska Open Air festival in Finland. The set-list included the old hits of the band as well as Blood Religion, a song from their new album, Majestic. And we're proud to present an exclusive photoreport of this show of the Rays, the link is here.

SPV/Steamhammer, the band's label, has announced the European and worldwide release date of Mrs. God single - September 5th (that's excluding Japan and South Asia where the single will be released a bit earlier and with a different track-list as we said earlier). Also the track-list of the single, digipack edition, got revealed:

3. Run (The Name Of Your Enemy) (exclusive bonus track)
Mrs. God - full-height portrait is available, music to follow in August.
Date: Monday, July 4 2005
According to yet-unofficial information, the worldwide release of Mrs. God, initially planned for July 4th, is being delayed. As we've already told, the EP's Japanese and South Asian release date is set to July 21st. We're waiting for the official news concerning the new release date for the rest of the world. St. Petersburg. May 2001. Helloween live photos!
Date: Monday, July 4 2005
We've updated our site with an exclusive photoreport from Helloween show that took place on May 23rd, 2001 in St. Petersburg. Once again, our big thanks to Jormundgand for the photos! See them here.
More Michael Kiske. More Heavy Metal?
Date: Wednesday, June 29 2005
Almost immediately after we posted here news about what seemed to be the last Heavy Metal project with Michael Kiske singing, we have some more to report. It seems like Tobi Sammet has a special talent in persuading Kiske to sing his songs, however "heavy" they may be. This time it's not a separate project like Avantasia but one of the tracks from the new EP of Tobias's main band, Edguy. As Tobi tells on the official site of the band, the song in question turned out to be so epic and bombastic, so much in the spirit of Wagner, Queen and Avantasia, that it was a must to try and ask Michi to sing it. The EP will be available on September 5th, released by Edguy's new label, Nuclear Blast.
Japanese Mrs. God track-list
Date: Tuesday, June 28 2005
Helloween's label in Japan, Victor Entertainment, has posted on its website the track-list of Mrs. God single (Japanese version, of course) which is to be released on July 21st:
1. Mrs. God
2. My Life For One More Day - Single Edit Version
3. Run (The Name Of Your Enemy) - Exclusive Single Bonus Track
The title track is composed by Andi Deris, the other two songs - by Markus Grosskopf and Sascha Gerstner in co-authorship with Andi.
Michael Kiske's last heavy metal side-project
Date: Monday, June 27 2005
As we know, the last Heavy Metal record Michael Kiske agreed to participate in before announcing his total departure from Metal field was "Execution" by Renato Tribuzy. So, he had to fulfill his promises and do his work honestly and with quality - which wasn't such an impossible thing, because the songs were quite good, however "metal". Michi recorded all his parts for Execution about a year ago, but the release is set for this year. It has already happened in Brazil and Japan, and is planned for July 22 in Northern Europe, USA and Russia. For the time being, we have to be content with a song sample - Absolution.
Helloween's new photos

Keeper's got a new artist
Date: Monday, June 13 2005
We've learned who's gonna do the artwork for the new album. It is Martin Häusler and his "Häusler Arts" company, known for his work with such bands as UDO, Pink Cream 69, Gotthard, and Backstreet Boys, N-Sync, Modern Talking, Rolling Stones too. Check out his website, http://www.haeusler-arts.de According to the rumours, we can expect some funny 3-D pumpkins and other eye candies...
'Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy'
Date: Saturday, June 11 2005
Helloween's management, Bottom Row Promotion has officially confirmed that the brand new album of the band is to be titled 'Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy' and be released on 31 October 2005. Some of the new HELLOWEEN pieces inherit elements that connect to the lyrical concept of the first two greatly successful 'Keeper OF The Seven Keys' albums. According to the official press-release, the new HELLOWEEN compositions offer intricate arrangements, many speed changes, virtuoso drum breaks and epic atmosphere. A renewed team spirit prevailing during pre-production encouraged the band members to hold intense rehearsal room sessions with a fresh inspiration, resulting in the band choosing that album title. Labelled 'Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy World Tour 2005/2006', the track is set for November 18th 2005 and will lead the band around the globe for roughly six months. You can check the info concerning the confirmed dates on the tourdates section of this website.

Some info about Helloween DVD releases
Date: Tuesday, May 17 2005
The situation with DVDs has become more clear. Hellish Videos DVD is to be a Sanctuary Group (former partners of Helloween) release with the official videos of the band. The release date is scheduled on the mid of July. Apart from that the band is preparing their own DVD, which is to appear soon after the new album. As far as we know by rumors, it will include band's studio work footage with some jokes and other "special for the fans" stuff. But there are still no concrete news concerning the second DVD as yet.
Russian fans will hear Michael Kiske on July 22nd
Date: Tuesday, May 17 2005
The few lucky ones who have already heard Michael Kiske's vocals on Place Vendome project (its recording was finished a few weeks ago) tell us that Michi's voice has significantly improved along with his health. But most of the fans will have to wait till September (the month of its official release) to hear it. Meanwhile we've learned that Renato Tribuzy's project, Execution (Michi recorded some vocals for it last year), will finally see the light of day this summer. It will appear in Russia on July 22nd.
How does Michael Kiske pay his medical bills?
Date: Sunday, April 10 2005
Finally we know what Michi did back in 2004 when it seemed he completely disappeared from everywhere. It seems, he was earning some money (which later helped him to fix his health problems) working as a producer, something he had learned while recording SupaRed album. Last November Michi was helping an Italian singer and composer Yari Carrisi to record his new album. Guitar and bass guitar parts were recorded by Fontaine Burnett while drums were done by Jurgen Spiegel - Michi's friend and drummer on his SupaRed and Readiness to Sacrifice albums. The recording of Yari's work happened in Studio 29 in Hamburg. Check out Yari's website for more info about the musician and more Hamburg studio photos.
Besides, there's some more info about another guest project of Michael Kiske, Place Vendame. The recording has been finished, and it appears that the project's producer is... Dennis Ward, the bass guitar player of Pink Cream 69! More that that, Dennis, along with two other musicians from Pink Cream 69, David Readman and Alfred Koffler (and Gunther Werno from Vandenplas, too) participated in composing the material sung by Michael. We're really excited by such news and how the different musicians' lives "overlap" sometimes...
Sascha Gerstner's Birthday
Date: Saturday, April 2 2005
Today is the Birthday of Sascha Gerstner - not so long ago a "newbie" among the pumpkins, but now a few steps closer to being a "veteran". We're wishing him happiness, many years of exciting creative work in Helloween and some good health!
New single plans and finally an album release date???
Date: Thursday, March 31 2005
As the news on the official website say, now the first single name is set to "Mrs. God" instead of "Come Alive". The band has spontaneously decided to replace the title track with a song they liked a bit more. The release date is still 4th of July. The promo video for "Mrs. God" will be shot in Nueremberg (Germany) in the beginning of May. It will be included in the single along with one album and one not-album track. The full-length album's preliminary date is set to good old Hallow'een, 31th of October this year. The world tour will start in Czech Republic on 18th of November. Helloween will tour Western Europe till the end of January, then go to Asia in February and continue with South and North America in March.
Michael Kiske: healthy again and ready for new projects
Date: Thursday, March 31 2005
As we've read on Michael Kiske's official site, www.supared.de, Michi is presently recording vocals for "Place Vendome". It is an 11 song project, in the vein of such AOR bands as Foreigner and Journey. It is going to be released by Frontiers Records (naturally, as the project's leader, Serafino Perugino, is also the label's owner) sometime this year. Even more importantly, Kiske has undergone an operation which has hopefully taken care of his stomach problems once and for all. Now Michael is ready to look for a good record deal to release his new album (14 songs, already composed and preproduced).

The band's management Bottom Row Promotion have "silently" updated the tourdates section of their website. Now we know that Helloween will play two club gigs in Poland on November 23rd (Krakow) and 24th (Warsaw). We're waiting for more information...

We have learned that the band's management have set the release date of the first single from the upcoming album of Helloween. It coincides with USA's Independence Day, 4th of July - though most probably the American releases of single and album will come a bit later than in Europe.
World tour to begin in November?
Date: Wednesday, March 16 2005
It seems that the work on the new Helloween album has reached its busiest phase. Meanwhile we've found out that the band's management and tour agency, Bottom Row Promotion company from Germany, has announced the first concert dates of the 2005-2006 world tour. Most probably it will begin in November. On November 18-20 Helloween will play three gigs in Czech Republic and on November 22 they'll have a concert in Slovakia.

New Helloween's DVD Hellish Videos (the collection of the band's video-clips with a short comment of A. Deris) is to be released July, 11 (according to official German website webmaster). Previously, it was planned to be released in March. But it seems, the old Helloween partner Sanctuary tries to be guided by the recent Helloween plans and to release Hellish Videos closer to the new album release date.
